Minimum criteria

For 1st degree to 2nd Degree Black belt

 A minimum of 2 years continued training at twice a week

 Once a week a period of 3 years will be required.

 An improved performance from previous grading would also be needed in all areas

For 2nd degree to 3rd Degree Black belt

 A minimum of 3 years continued training at twice a week

 Once a week a period of 4 years will be required.

 An improved performance from previous grading would also be needed in all areas

For 3rd degree to 4th Degree Black belt

 A minimum of 3 years continued training at twice a week and weekly teaching

 A minimum of 4 years continued training at twice a week.

 Once a week a period of 5 years will be required.

 An improved performance from previous grading would also be needed in all areas

For 5th degree to 6th Degree Black belt

 A minimum of 5 years continued training at twice a week and weekly teaching

 A minimum of 6 years continued training at twice a week

 Once a week training a minimum of 7 years continued training

 An improved performance from previous grading would also be needed in all areas

For 6th degree to 7th Degree Black belt

 A minimum of 6 years continued training at twice a week and weekly teaching

 A minimum of 7 years continued training at twice a week

 Once a week training a minimum of 8 years continued training

 An improved performance from previous grading would also be needed in all areas

*Please note that teaching alone and not training does not constitute to time between gradings. An instructor who is not training themselves cannot be improving.

*Teaching is for senior instructors only not students who just help out.

If you are due to take a 2nd degree grading or higher please read the criteria and make sure you are eligible to grade. Speak to your instructor and check they believe you are up to the required standards required.
